Teacher : In this lesson, we'll learn the bare minimum you should know before going to a Punjabi speaking region.
Teacher : Let's aim for a few essential words and sentences:
Teacher : Start by saying hello
Teacher: ਸਤ ਸ਼ੀਰੀ ਅਕਾਲ

Teacher : Here's how you say "yes"
Teacher: ਹਾਂ

Teacher : and "no"
Teacher: ਨਹੀਂ

Teacher : Excuse me, for instance to ask a question, or if you bumped into someone by mistake.
Teacher: ਮੈਨੂੰ ਮੁਆਫ ਕਰੋ

Teacher : To say thank you, say:
Teacher: ਸ਼ੁਕਰੀਆ

Teacher : to which one can reply "you're welcome"
Teacher: ਸਵਾਗਤ ਹੈ

Teacher : If you don't understand what you're being told:
Teacher: ਮੈਂ ਸਮਝਾ ਨਹੀਂ

Teacher : Then you can ask that they repeat:
Teacher: ਆਪ ਦੁਬਾਰਾ ਬੋਲ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ ?

Teacher : Make sure you add a "please" wherever needed
Teacher: ਮਿਹਰਬਾਨੀ ਕਰਕੇ

Teacher : For instance when asking how much something costs
Teacher: ਕੀਮਤ ਕੀ ਹੈ ?

Teacher : This means "how much does this cost?", and should work for anything you point at.
Teacher : And finally, always say goodbye when you leave.
